Taking Chances

There was a time, long ago, where I was terrified to take chances. There was one place in particular that intrigued me but also terrified me, and it still stands.

The old swinging bridge. Every Monday my grandmother would take the grandchildren on a fishing trip. We had an ecentric aunt that lived across the creek and she always accompanied us. So we would all take the long trek across the fields and across that bridge that swung high above the creek waters to walk up to her home about a mile into the woods. Everytime I would have to cross that creek, I'd hold my breathe when I reached the middle. I was so sure that I would slip and fall in.

Your reputation was based on tunnel vision warriors, but underneath is void of this outward mask. Underneath is someone hoping for tenderness when the night chill arrives.

I'm also being told that you are in the process of healing. You've been hurt and that has caused you to stop and review your life and make some decisions that you weren't sure of. I'm being told to assure you that the decisions that were made were wise ones.

Your future is holding some surprising changes. Be ready and be strong. You will be the one to take over some family affairs as you look back and remember how it was long ago, the realization of how fleeting our lives are will sink in like an anchor.

There will be stories told around a circle, some bringing tears of laughter and some bringing tears of joy. The past will be joining the future. It will take some tactifulness in this situation because family politics will be your obstacle.

There is someone on the otherside that wants you to know that this departure that is coming should be looked on like travel among the music. Asleep and then traveling to a place where a baby waits to greet her.
